What and How We Grow

William H. Jordan Farm is one of several remaining farms in Cape Elizabeth, and a major contributor to the town’s rural character.

We grow a large variety of products to supply our onsite farm stand and online market. Our key products are corn, strawberries, tomatoes, lettuces, beans, pumpkins, and an array of brassicas.

We believe that by supporting other farms and small businesses we can help create a vibrant and sustainable economy. Our goal is that our customers will have a broad enough selection of Maine products that they can leave the farm stand with a Maine meal.

We are conventional growers using crop rotation, cover crops, compost, and other methods to maintain and build our soils. We practice integrated pest management (IPM) to manage pests that may impact products and we are vigilant about if and when pesticides might be needed.

We are starting to introduce approaches to extend our growing season in order to bring cucumbers to our customers in June and to have colder weather products up through December. By growing storage products and employing season extension our hope is to bring Cape Elizabeth-raised products to our customers year-round.
