WHAT IS THE MAINE SENIOR FARM SHARE PROGRAM?

The Senior Farm Share program is funded through a grant from the USDA with the objective of providing fresh produce to Maine seniors and providing startup dollars to Maine farms. This is a great program for all!

  • Seniors who meet the requirements of the program sign up each year with a single farm for a single share.

  • At our farm seniors shop at the farm stand selecting the produce they want to purchase. We keep a record of the purchases and work to provide a variety of fresh local produce for teh seniors.

  • Senior must be over 60 and not be a member of the farmers immediate family.

  • Annual income must not exceed: $20,036 for single person household; $26,955 for two-person household.

  • Each senior participating must meet both age and income requirements.

  • In two-person households each person can signup for a share.

  • This is an EXTREMELY popular program and it is suggested that people sign up early.

  • In addition, we ask that participating seniors take full advantage of the opportunity to enjoy fresh produce and use their full share. If a senior is unable to use their full share we ask that they let us know as soon as possible so we can give another senior an opportunity to participate in the program.
